Sell Palisade and get Japanese SUV

Hi, I have a 2022 Hyundai Palisade Caligraphy with 15k miles on it.  We do not have a tow hitch for which there is a recall out saying those cars can catch fire.  I was always wary of buying a Hyundai and should've listened to my dad when he said just buy a Highlander.  But we went with the Palisade because it had more room in all three rows and had some better tech.  Especially the top down camera and the mirror cameras.

Now I've decided to move off of it and I'm getting an offer for $48,500 from a local dealership.  I had paid $53k after tax for this.  I'm looking at a new 23 Acura MDX as it fits most of our needs.  The alternative is a Toyota Highlander but theyre extremely hard to find.  Should I go ahead with this switch?

Check elsewhere, I’ve seen people get MSRP offers for 1-2 year old cars - I think you can more then that.

Not recommended, it’s a brand new model and so far the brand new transmission doesn’t seem to be built all that well…
The alternative is a Toyota Highlander but theyre extremely hard to find.
If you’re shopping new, the regular V6 got discounted, so the only good option is the hybrid variant.

I think a Toyota hybrid is still likely to outlast a Hyundai GDi
and had some better tech
that's the main issue with these, all of that tech, eventually breaks down.
And Hyundai does have a tendency to make their cars slightly bigger than the competition, that’s one of their tactics.
Should I go ahead with this switch?
Sounds like a good idea to switch from the Hyundai to the Highlander.

Highlander... Eh, the 5+ year old models do have a reputation for a front timing chain cover problem.  First year models with the 8-speed transmission had a few complaints. I was looking at a used Highlander or Sienna and ended up buying a 4Runner TRD Off-Road.

I test drove an AWD 2021 Highlander (3rd row, pleather interior, tow hitch).  Dreamy smooth and seemingly powerful. Comfy car.  The dealership wanted $45k but it had body panel rust from an unrepaired rear fender accident...  No thank you.

Get a Highlander. Yes it is hard to find but if you can wait find a dealership willing to sell at msrp and put your name down for an incoming allocation and wait for it to come. It's definitely worth the wait. It's a really nice comfortable car.

had some better tech.

This is exactly what Hyundai/Kia do; instead of improving quality they add bells and whistles.

Get prices from places like Carmax, Carvana, Vroom etc. and see who will pay you more for it. You can sell it to them and then take the cash for buying the Highlander.
