So I test drove this 1998 Mercury mountaineer everything worked fine on the car until we tested the 4 wheel drive when we put it into 4 wheel drive the transmission shifted hard and the car couldn't move after we took it out of 4 wheel drive and put it back into drive and it didn't work until I put back into 2nd but drive was working fine until we tested the 4 wheel drive, is it worth it? It's got 98,000 it's from 1998 and they want 5,600 is there a bigger problem to come with that 4 wheel drive not working?

$5600 for a 24-year-old Mountaineer with non-working 4WD and a possibly hinky transmission? I know the market is crazy right now, but just NO.

Dang that sucks I really liked that car a lot I'm very very picky about how what I drive if I'm seated a little two high or little tow low with a full seat adjustment and I do t feel right I'll never get the car, but if I offered him less what should I because I really like this thing

It's a 20-year-old Mercury with bad 4WD and a failing transmission. It's up to you but it is just not worth much of anything. I'd look for another. The Ford version of that vehicle (Explorer?) should give you the same ride height and general feel.
