Hey, Scotty. I've looked at the new 2021 Hyundai Elantra limited and I like it very much. It seems to fit my tastes and it is a very nice looking vehicle. Do you think I should get it? Is it a good car to get for daily driving?

Also, tell me your thoughts on the 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage.

Have a good day.

No on both

If not, then what should I get?

Corolla

Neither, get a New/Used Honda Fit/ Toyota Corolla

Hmmm. I like the Fits. They're great vehicles and they do run well up into the 100k mile categories and the Corollas look nice and they're simple. They're also super reliable. Thanks for answering.

You like Fits? Excellent vehicle, … I own one, ‘10 Fit Sport. Newer ones are very good, too! Efficient, roomy, fun to drive, sporty, … especially when you upgrade OEM tires to 205/50/16. FWIW.

I agree. My neighbor has a 2007 Fit that still drives well and has almost 120k miles. Very lovely to ride in and the A/C still blows cold and it's a 14 year old car. They're built quite well.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BUY ANY KOREAN MADE VEHICLE. Just look up the countless motor issues and use of cheap electronic components. As well as the class actions against them.

For Hyundai, if you plan to keep the car for less than 100k miles, it may be Ok, otherwise forget it.

The Mirage is the worst new car ever made. Imagine how is the used one.

I mean, the Mirage is just boring, tiny, slow and cheap cheap. I'm the type of person that just looks for the car being usable. Looking at the Mirage, you see good gas mileage, good reliability and a good regular commuter car for people that just don't care that much about how the car looks and they just want a car that works well and I am one of those people. Even had a buddy that owns a 2012 Mirage and he's had it since 2016 and he drives it every day, so I wouldn't particularly agree with it being the worst new car ever made. It's just way more boring than something like a Corolla or a Yaris.

That new 2021 Hyundai Elantra limited you will be liking it twice. Yes. Once, as you said, while buying it, … and for a second time, when getting rid of it in a not too distant future! It’s true, … I know number of folks who liked their Hyundais just twice!

Anyway, … if you try to negotiate hard, I’m sure you will be able to buy, … say, an equivalent new Toyota, Honda, … or even a Mazda for a close to the same price they want for that new Elantra Limited, … and you will be liking it trice: … once, when buying it, once owning and driving it, and most likely when selling it for a premium, …if you decide, finally, to sell it!

P.S.: … and that question about that 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage was a joke, yes?

Not really a joke, I personally think the Mirage is an okay vehicle. It's just not what comes to mind when purchasing a commuter car. Also, if not the Elantra, then what could I get. I'm particularly looking for maybe a nice Mazda sedan or any reliable, dependable, cheap and good on gas mileage vehicle that isn't expensive to repair

For a new car, … today, because of all those newly infringing complication in engineering and design of private automobile, I would primarily choose Toyota’s most popular car, today, like Camry, or smaller one, Corolla. Toyota seems to be implementing those complicated changes better, … with more reliability.

Others? Not so, … oil dilution, carbon build up on valves, blown gaskets, failing turbos, … not to mention failing transmissions.

Anyway, … that’s just my opinion, … my musing out loud.

Best,
F.S.

If we are at the standard of a Mirage then just get a used small Toyota/Honda you would be MUCH happier.
