I have a 2018 Dodge Durango r/t (fully loaded/ tech package/red interior/etc) with about 26500 miles. I live in nyc (queens). No major problems or than the recall for ACC. I baby the car 70% of the time and unleash it 30% of the time. You could say this is my perfect car cuz it does almost everything I need it to do and fits my family (in-laws included) really well. My lease is almost up and I’ve been watching your videos about Chrysler/fiat/Dodge, should I end up buying this vehicle or look for something else, but nothing really interests me. Long term wise I’m not sure the car will last..like 8+ years. As you can tell I’m on the fence about this, don’t wanna get a new lease but if I can get a “good deal” I would. I’m moving to Long Island soon so mileage will be an issue with a new lease. So some advise will really help. Thank you
If you want to have a reliable car for many years, do not buy that car.
@yaser
Funny you mention this cuz just yesterday my check engine light came on, Took me a week and half to get an appointment for an oil change but I highly doubt it’s for that. Also checking through my papers, my wife brought in the car due to my water pump failing which was fixed up warranty. Got this Durango at 49K msrp, what other vehicle would you recommend for a proper 7 seater(I’m 6’2 and that 3rd is comfy) without killing that wallet.
If you want a SUV, Get a Toyota Sequoia or Landcruiser. If you want a van, consider Sienna.
The 5.7L v8 cams and rockers don’t last. I have a friend with a 2014 Dodge Ram with 120000m on it and it has a rocker arm tick pretty badly. Also dodge electrical is an embarrassment
No. I had a 2012 and it was the largest pile of garbage I’ve ever had. It also was a lease. Turn it in, let FCA deal with the headache of reselling it. I don’t even have the energy to write you all it’s issues.
Drivers really love their Durango's. But they do not age well.
This is a car you have had since new? You service it according to schedule? You like it and it does what you want? Why throw it away before you see problems? Your only problems have been fixed for free?
I'd keep it until I see common faults appearing but then I'm a hardheaded of phart.
@jimz
Then he looses too much money.
Or he wins. My neighbor has one with over 70,000 miles and no problem. She bought it new, does service and goes mostly highway miles. If this were a used car, I'd say think twice but it is low miles, known maintenance and suits the owner. He will loose much money getting rid of it now and since he is in it go ahead and put the time and money to use it right.
@jimz
Appreciate the feedback, I need something that gives me the power, the space, and the look. The third row is my main concern also. I could get the mopar extended warranty also.
@jimz
Check engine light came on yesterday, gonna go in on Friday (overdue for oil-change) too my a week and a half to get an appointment (COVID status).
I have found that any extras people want to sell me, for anything I buy, are better off if I simply put those costs in my pocket. For instance, a car extended warranty. I have put the extra costs of the insurance into a separate savings account. Insurance is a gamble. They bet they will not have to spend for your repairs and you bet they will. That is gambling. They cheat. I keep replacement cash on hand. If the car breaks past market value, I just go buy a better one.
