Hey Scotty I’m looking to buy a 2003 Chevy S10 2wd, 2.2 4cyl, 5 speed manual, single cab. Has 120k miles. They want $2500 for it. Could this be a reliable truck for budget and simplicity?
The 2nd generation Chevrolet S-10 specifically the 2.2 L LN2/L43 naturally aspirated I4 engine was reliable (as long as it was maintained). See below at 2:42 by Master Mechanic The Car Wizard: now at 120,000 miles hopefully it was not thrashed and had an excellent service history, and you want an independent, honest mechanic like Scotty to check it out thoroughly and give the OK before buying it.

If it was in good condition, I would consider it, but I'd negotiate the price down. It won't have very much power.
It could be a decent truck if it checks out. Definitely try to get the price lower.
If it checks out mechanically, I'd go $1500 cash. Unless you love it, then $2000.
They can be good little trucks but not a great choice for daily duty at that age and mileage.
