Hey Scotty!
I just sold my BMW X5 and upgraded to a 2012 Toyota Camry SE V6 with 100,500 miles. I'm not sure if trans fluid has been changed in the past, and I've heard that if you wait too long to change the trans fluid, that you shouldn't touch it. Should I change my trans fluid, or should I leave it?
Thanks,
Chris from Michigan
First off, does your Camry have a dipstick? If so pull it out and see what color the fluid looks like. If it's nice red and clean then it's probably been changed. However; if it's getting dark and blackish then. I would change it now rather than later.

Just don't have it flushed. Drain and fill method about 3 times, couple of hundred miles between each one should suffice. Plenty of videos on how to do it.
Look up in this forum. You will find a complete guide on this topic.
What you could do is drain it into a clean pan, then measure hiw much came out. If 4 quarts, put back 2 new quarts and 2 of the old. This was you have freshened the old fluid with newer antiwear porpoerties but kept most of the old. That is what I would do. Also look at color of old fluid, if its very dark then I would leave it probably.
Why would I want to keep some of the old fluid?
