I just purchased this 2011 Toyota Avalon with 225,000 mostly highway miles. Don’t know if the ATF has ever been changed or even if the spark plugs have been changed either. Car runs and drives very nice. Previous owner said he did get regular oil changes but that was about it for maintenance. Should I try changing the ATF at this point or not?
Thank you!!
I would change all the fluids personally just due to the mileage. With no real service history it is better to be safe than sorry.
Sounds like you got a good one though! Enjoy!
Id like to add that it may be a good idea when you change the transmission fluid to use something clean to keep the old fluid. Then try adding the new fluid but if it starts to slip or act up it may help to put the old fluid back and to just change the filter. Ive had success with this myself before. Saved me a transmission.
To late don't change it with those miles if. Tranny is operating correctly, unless it smells burnt. U may cause more harm than good. Scotty has video on that issue.
