Should I change transmission fluid?

  • Hey Scotty! I am a huge fan of your videos and I have  a 2005 Toyota Camry LS at 208,728 miles. Runs much better than my horrible Nissan tranny wise. I took it to the mechanic before bought it and the mechanic said that the transmission fluid is brown, not black. Should I change the fluid or just leave it? I want to baby it because it’s so much better than my Nissan. Thanks.

If the fluid is brown, the transmission was neglected. Once the fluid turns black, the transmission is done.

How is the shifting now? If the tranny is ok, you might be able to change the fluid little bits at a time. If it has problems, then any sudden changes could make it worse, and you should think about a new vehicle.
