Hi Scotty,
I have a 2005 ford escape, 98,000 miles on it. I have an exhaust leak and was told I need to replace the part because it's rusted (makes sense). But the mechanic said they couldn't because it's rusted to other parts and it would cause a lot of the undercarriage to fall apart (it's all pretty rusted).
I have never had any problems driving it around but I'm wondering, if I can drive it until it actually breaks down? Is there a temporary plug I can use to manage the leak for now? The mileage is pretty bad right now.
That was good advice as it's a matter of time before it's unsafe (may already be so). Get what ever is offered on trade, it'll help although only a little.
I had to junk 12 years old Fiat Uno with only 80k km years ago because it was so rotten it had not passed inspection anymore.
