Should I rebuild my manual transmission?

I have a 1989 Toyota bj73 land cruiser. It wont go into first gear without shifting into second before even after that it still sometimes drops out of first gear. I have been told this is due to my sync row being worn out. I am unable to find a factory re-manufactured transmission. Do you think it is worth rebuilding the transmission myself or paying a Toyota transmission specialist to rebuild it?

Do you think it is worth...  paying a Toyota transmission specialist to rebuild it?

How much do they want?

1300$ from marlincrawler they are very trusted

that sounds like a personal choice.
How much is this truck worth to you... what condition is it in ... what is your skill level .... do you have more money or time ....?
I think the one in the best position to answer the question is you.
If you have any technical questions then I'm happy to take a shot.

Yes, either get it rebuilt or rebuild it yourself.

If I were more mechanically experienced, I’d do the project in myself. Alas, I am not, so gotta outsourced the fix.

If you are up for it, why not?
