Should I replace my car battery if it still works?

I have a 2008 Chevy HHR LS that I bought with 63,000 miles on it. It is at 117,000 miles now and the battery was manufactured in 2011. I have no clue how or why it lasted so long but should I replace the battery?

It is typically recommended to replace it at five years. If you don't replace it, I would make sure you always have a jump starter with you at all times. I have one of the noco boost versions, it has come in handy not just for me, but for others I have quickly got their car up and going. Cheap insurance against being stranded from a dead battery.

If your car starts normally on the first crank every day, I would just keep using it.

I don't know about batteries that are that old but usually they give you signs when they're about to go (they won't start on a cold morning after sitting all night)

I'm a firm believer that everybody should carry a jump pack. you can get a cheap off brand one from China that works for about $30 online
