Hi Scotty,
The name is Josh from Montreal,
I've got a (2010 Automatic 4-cylinder 6-speed FWD) Ford Escape. It's got about 230,000kms on it and some wear and tear along, such as needing new ties rods in front of the car along with the usual ford problems from that generation of escape (back wiper motor is toast, a/c fan resistor or motor, rusted out trunk).
The car was warming up for a few minutes in the driveway when I returned there was a terrible burning smell so I shut off the vehicle. There was no smoke that I can remember, but afterwards the car wouldn't start.
I took it to my mechanic and he says it's the starter. Now he quoted me $400 (CDN!) with install for a new starter and another $400 (CDN!) for the tie rods needed for the front left and right wheels. I just finished paying $200 to install a push start button to bypass my failing ignition problem.
Do I keep this girl going or send her the scrap heap and try to keep something in my pocket for another second hand vehicle?
Thanks,
Josh
I would have gotten rid of it a long time ago. I don't keep rust buckets.
