Subaru Dealership Service Nightmare Story!!

Scotty you're gonna love this one.

I took my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek (CVT) in for oil change and regular maintenance at ~60,000. They "found" that my rear wheel bearings were worn / rusted and needed to be replaced which was not a big deal because my warranty covered it. Well flash forward not even 1,500 miles since that service, I'm driving down the highway at ~80mph on my way home from college and my parking brake assembly falls out of place and onto the wheels WHILE driving. Had to wait hours for a tow in the middle of nowhere and have to drive hours out of my way to go pick the thing up now that it's ready. I talked to the service manager at the dealership, apparently the "master tech" had to remove the parking brake to replace the wheel bearings, but reinstalled it incorrectly. Best part is, he said that's not even the first time he's reinstalled an E brake wrong! I demanded that they do something about it and got them to cover the whole $700 repair including new rotors pads and calipers on both sides.

I wouldn't have known better to get them to cover the cost if it weren't for your advice, last time I get service at a dealership!

You give up a dealership that was honest enough to admit they F'd up?  I might not take my car there for service again but I would feel good about buying one from them.  Most will lie their way out of it and covering cost is the least of the worries.

Great point, I told him on the phone that he just earned themselves a customer after this car when he offered.
