2016 Subaru Impreza 80,000kms should I change rotors along with pads?

I have a 2016 Subaru Impreza 2.0 liter 5 door. with just under 80,000km.  I am pretty sure my brake pads are wearing but they are not worn metal to metal.  When I have my next service next week I predict the garage will tell me to change pads and rotars.  Is it really always necessary to change out the rotors too?  I would prefer to change pads more often if I could save the rotors.

Any thoughts and thanks in advance for your feedback,

It is not always necessary to change out the rotors with the pads. It just depends on what the wear looks like.

If you are getting any shuddering under hard braking, it is likely your rotors are warped and will require changing. Some people like to change out pads and rotors just so everything is fresh, but for conservatively driven vehicles you can usually do two pad changes to one rotor change. Now if you are hard on the car, that's another story and you'll likely need to change everything out.
