Suv buying question

Hello team, my grandfather is looking to buy a used SUV with a lot of different requirements. He wants a pretty squared off body style, have a naturally aspirated V-6 engine, an automatic transmission, 4-5000 pounds of towing capacity, a foldable third row, a roof rack, no sunroof, and he wants to stay away from Gm, and Peugeot. He also wants it to be closer to the luxury end of the spectrum as far as interior and features. From the lineups of Ford- Toyota- Honda- Acura- Lexus- Lincoln , Subaru, Mazda, or maybe a reliable European vehicle? What would you guys recommend to kid of fit that mold?

Toyota Sequoia or Land Cruiser will meet all those requirements.

Just he should sacrifice the V6 requirement.

Easiest thing to sacrifice. Hard to get 5000 pounds towing on a luxury V6

You'll have to double check if all the checkboxes are checked, as those are a lot.  Of the top of my head these are the ones that mostly fit the bill with the right trim package:

  • Acura MDX
  • Toyota Highlander
  • Honda Pilot

I put them in luxury order, with the latter two about the same.

BTW, it might be hard to find no sun roof.

Some honorable mentions would be:

  • Subaru Ascent (not a V6, it's a Boxer-4).
  • Mazda CX-9 (Towing Capacity not to your requirements)
  • Lexus LX and Lexus GX (not a V6, it's a V8).

honestly if hes going to tow 4-5k lbs he may as well get a small block v8, I mean unless its once in a blue moon.

What's his budget?

You could try looking at an explorer too, idk if it checks all the boxes but it sounds like it could satisfy most of his needs if not all

Toyota Highlanders can tow up to 5000 pounds. If you want something different, maybe a Toyota 4Runner or Land Cruiser (V8).
