Hey Scotty, what's ur opinion on a Suzuki Jimny. I have seen it being a global success and Suzuki has been making cool stuff since they left the USA and Canada in 2013. I like the simplicity, the charm, size, and the price point compared to a wrangler and 4runner. This really made me disappointed that they left most of North America.
Well the problem with Suzuki was they're fine where people want small little vehicles that get pretty good gas mileage for a four-wheel drive vehicle. But there were nowhere strong enough for rough Americans who don't maintain their vehicles and rag the heck out of them those small engines blew like mad as they aged. Small engines in Americans really don't go together in the long run. And the weird thing is they make such screaming fast motorcycles the Suzuki company. But of course they don't weigh much either
I’m a big fan of it. I’d roll in one. But I also know it’s limits. Too bad they don’t sell them in the US.
Why do you say it’s a global success?
I think it’s an overpriced, undersized econobox that’s pretending to be a lifestyle vehicle.. Have you seen one in real life? I have.
And it’s not ‘popular’, it just has its fans.
at least it's a lot better than a Jeep Wrangler which is under the Stellantis umbrella.
Sure, but people who buy Jeeps, won’t touch the Jimny. It’s a different class of vehicle, aimed at a completely different audience. If you’re talking about which one is better, I don’t know if that’s a fair comparison.
I have an '03 Chevy Tracker (aka-Suzuki Vitara) with the 2.0L engine. It's 4x4 with a manual trans. It's one of the best and most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. Made in Canada. It's not a heavy duty off road 4x4 but I didn't buy it for that. It's just to get the wife safely to work and back in lousy weather, snow, etc. I replaced the timing chain set at 120,000 miles pro-actively and the 02 sensor on the exhaust manifold that failed. No other problems, at all.
