Currently working on a '88 Suzuki Samurai as a project car to go outdoors on the weekends,
every time it starts (cold) the engine dies unless I give it gas for a couple of minutes. It is my first time working with carburetor cars so I'm still learning to troubleshoot without the almighty OBD2's help, any ideas on what I should check?

well the carburetor obviously is problems try cleaning the choke and setting it correctly if it has an automatic choke it will do that if it's not working right but on something that old a lot of times you're better just to throw the carburetor away and see if you can find a Weber Italian carburetor that will fit they work tons better than the junk that Suzuki put on them anyway
