Hey Scotty,
I've got a problem that no one can figure out, thinking about asking how I can book an appointment with you since you aren't that far away. I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4 v6 CYL 5AT 4wd auto transmission w/ 30k miles.
- Issue with truck making a single click noise when the brake is pressed (various pressure) after getting speed up to 10-40 mph and driving straight at least 100 feet, with or without 4x4 engaged
- this click is a very light sound, most of the time, to the point where no mechanic or dealership can hear it
- when going uphill and engaging brakes it is more of a single CLUNK noise and is louder
- can also sometimes be heard when turning the wheel and when backing into a spot but is a louder CLUNK, not consistent, even with a full turn
- sounds like something is popping or braking off the underside of the car when the clunk happens, very difficult to get a video since it is hard to hear
- Ive greased the 5x zerk fittings, replaced transfer case oil, front and rear differential oil
I'm at the point where I'm thinking about selling the truck and buying something else because I cant stand the noise and no one can figure it out. Ive had tie rods and inner CVs checked, told those were OK, but not confident. I'm in NC and about 9 hours from you if I need to drive there I am ready. Please Help!!
Thanks,
Brandon
Oh I can always figure noises out with my equipment. Email Scottykilmer@gmail.com for an appointment here in Clarksville if you want
Here is some advice. Dealership mechanics always seem to be hard of hearing when it comes to car problems you hear.
