Just saw a Toyota tacoma for sale.
It states it has an Atkinson cycle engine..
Is that the normal engine?
I may just be clueless.
VIN is 3TMCZ5AN5KM213665

I am not an expert but I remember countless times Scotty saying that Atkinson cycle engines are good.

On the Internet it says:
"What Is the 'AtkinsonCycle? Simply put, the Atkinson cycle aims to use all of the energy in the cylinder. It does this by leaving the intake valve open longer, creating a shorter compression stroke. In the Prius engine, the net result is an effective compression ratio of 8:1, while the expansion ratio is about 13:1"

It is a different engine but they are very reliable as seen in the Toyota Prius. Watch Scotty's videos on it

Been around in Tacoma a while I guess. I'm just behind the times

It's still an internal combustion engine with pistons, valves and spark plugs. But it is set up and works a bit differently with modified timing.

It's known for it's efficiency (at the expense of power) which is why they use it in hybrids.
