Just saw a Toyota tacoma for sale.
It states it has an Atkinson cycle engine..
Is that the normal engine?
I may just be clueless.
VIN is 3TMCZ5AN5KM213665
I am not an expert but I remember countless times Scotty saying that Atkinson cycle engines are good.
On the Internet it says:
"What Is the 'Atkinson' Cycle? Simply put, the Atkinson cycle aims to use all of the energy in the cylinder. It does this by leaving the intake valve open longer, creating a shorter compression stroke. In the Prius engine, the net result is an effective compression ratio of 8:1, while the expansion ratio is about 13:1"
It is a different engine but they are very reliable as seen in the Toyota Prius. Watch Scotty's videos on it
Been around in Tacoma a while I guess. I'm just behind the times
It's still an internal combustion engine with pistons, valves and spark plugs. But it is set up and works a bit differently with modified timing.
It's known for it's efficiency (at the expense of power) which is why they use it in hybrids.
