Hi Scotty,
Love all your videos (especially digging the new history shows). Thank you for all that you do and your straight up honesty, it's hard to find these days.
I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4x2 short bed, bought it 3 years ago and have 163k on it (43k of which are mine). I recently got a lube and filter replacement, as well as an alignment at the dealer as they wanted to do a rust test on the frame.
They showed the alignment was pretty far off when I drove in with measurements for the Left Front Chamber (.4), Left Front Caster (2.9), Left Front Toe (-1.52), Right Front Chamber (-.4), Right Front Caster (.7), and Right Front Toe (-1.57).
Their check on Frame rust was negative with "No Major Rust Found", but then they went in to why they couldn't successfully align my front end. He said the Frame Tabs were Rusted and they could not free the connections to adjust it completely. Here is their recommendation "Rec. replacing both control and eccentrics along with repairing the frame. Frame tabs are damaged and front suspension is frozen.
I had just gotten my second covid shot and was quite out of it when he presented this to me, but what was strange is that he never quoted me a price to fix it all. I'm guessing it would take well over 1k to fix it up correctly.
What are your thoughts? I love my Taco and have customized it to allow for my creature comforts, but this was unexpected as I am not rough on it at all and don't really do any off road driving. I mostly carry my baseball equipment around in it as I am a baseball coach.
Thanks,
Russ
When I go someplace else and see how well they could align it and if it tracks good enough what the heck is the tires were at a little early tires are a lot cheaper than a thousand smack ers
