Thinking of purchasing a jeep patriot

Hi Scotty!

so I’m thinking of buying a small compact SUV, the Jeep Patriot 2017 High Altitude 4x4 in Mojave sand color (since I live in a certain part of Texas mostly desert it works really well cuz you can’t tell when it’s dirty or dusty on the ext )  it’s currently at NORTH East locator Auto Sales, in PA with 60,998 miles on it, it does have some modern tech to include rear view camera and sun roof, it has one owner clean car fax, it’s selling for $16,986. Now I know cars can last a long time even crappy ones if you do regular maintenance which it seems this previous owner did. My concern is if this jeep model has an integrated chip compartment or common issues, some have really good luck with jeeps and others have nothing but bad luck and frequent trips to the service bay more than road trips.  What do you recommend ? Since I reside out of state and this is the specific color with the features I want I have to rely on photos or a video walk around.

Welcome new member!  Used jeeps are always a risk, though the Patriot is one of their better models (especially if, like you say, it has been well maintained).

You can get a pre purchase inspection, either from Lemon Squad or a local independent mechanic.  Specifically look at rust and drive train.  Use any problem they find to knock down the price (which seems high).  And be aware that regardless what the inspection finds, you will eventually get electrical problems, so keep a little $ in reserve for that contingency.
