Hey Scotty! I'm in high school and was looking for a new car. I came across a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT manual tranny with 138k miles on the clock. What are your thoughts and what usually goes wrong with these cars at this amount of mileage.

If the engine is still in good shape, and if you get it for dirt cheap, it may be a fun knock around car.

It might be all ragged out so make sure a mechanic checks it out
It might last a few years, or fall apart in front of your very eyes
Something newer would have been prefered though
Personally I think they are ugly and unsafe so would never even consider buying one but if it appeals to you don't pay much it might be a decent knock around car, but there are much more reliable ones out there that are zippy enough
