Hey guys! As you can probably tell by my name, I’ve always been a fan of classic American luxury cars, and I’ve recently come across one for sale. According to the seller, it’s got around 67K miles, and was owned by a guy who passed it on to his nephew, which was then purchased by the current seller. Vinyl top was just redone and it drives fine. As far as condition goes, there are a few issues but nothing that can’t be fixed, namely the dash pad and one door armrest are a little dinged up.
I wanted to get some thoughts on possibly buying it, and maybe some input on how reliable these cars are as well as ease of maintenance and repair. Seller wants $7500, but I’d try to pay below $5000. Thanks guys!
Of course being old as the hills I assume you're getting a toy to play around with and that could be great don't ever expect some old thing like that to be an everyday driver because it will nickel and dime you to death
With a car this old, you will be constantly working on it. All of the rubber parts, seals, gaskets etc will be old and either have already failed, or will fail in the near future. My mother in law gave my daughter a car years ago. It was around a 20 year old vehicle at the time, but only had about 36K miles on it. I spent a lot of time fixing things on it the first year or two and it was only about 20 years old.
Upgrade it to electronic ignition and you will have something far more reliable than the over engineered junk being built today.
