Hi Scotty,
Our family has a 2012 Toyota Sienna LE 6 Cylinder with 150k. At our last oil change we were disappointed to find out that there is a very very slow leak in the head gasket that they noticed. After many years of searching for a good mechanic that we trust, they informed us that it was fine but we need to check regularly the coolant levels and temperature gauge and make sure to have it looked at if going on long trips. I'm a die hard Honda guy, but Toyota is second on my list (history of great engineers and great build locations you can't go wrong IMO). Given the current supply shortage of new cars and high demand for used car and their high prices, I'm wondering if we should consider getting the engine repaired. Of course it would be much less expensive than purchasing a new or used Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander as a replacement, but I'm wondering if there will be continuing problems down the road with a engine repaired Toyota Sienna?
If you get the cylinder head rebuilt, use a high quality head gasket and install ARP head studs, you'll probably get at least another 100K miles out of it as long as you change the oil with synthetic every 5K miles. The alternative is to go out and spend about $35,000.00 to buy somebody else's used headache.
