Hi Scotty!
During my last oil-service yesterday, we had one beer too much ;-). So, we overfilled the motor that needs 5.5 liters with approximately 1l but didn't check that. So, I drove home already 13 kilometers. Now I have to drive back the same way to reach the lifting platform for removing the oil that is too much. Do you think that's risky for my Mercedes 200K (W203) with engine 271?
Many Thx!
Mike
It's not going to be too risky. Just try to drain out the excess oil as soon as you can. Overfilling the oil will actually hinder the lubrication inside the engine. This is because the crankshaft will make significant contact with the overfilled oil and cause the oil to foam up like froth. Frothy oil cannot be sucked up by the oil pump to re-disperse inside the engine, and therefore the engine won't be lubricated properly. Just drive it back nice and easy and drain some oil out...
Thank you for your reply! "Luckywise" one rubber seal of the filter housing displaced itself being screwed shut. Aas a result, the engine lost nearly, exact the one liter that was too much, on the way to the garage. We fixed the filter housing and it was done. Problem solved from itself 😉
@maybach
Then problem solved (in an interesting way I guess)!
