Hello Scotty,
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Liter Hemi and extended cab. What advise do you have for towing trailers. RV dealers advertise half-ton towable trailers. Should I use my truck to tow one of these trailers?
Thank you,
Marcus Carey

Your truck wasn't made for it 20 years ago, and definitely won't be today
One it's an old truck. Two that trailer carries a lot more weight than what your truck is rated for. Combine the two of them. It doesn't seem like a good idea to me
Also, at that weight you’re towing, a diesel would be better, unless you’re only towing a few times a year
Welcome new member. The engine could probably handle it but not the transmission, suspension or brakes. I’d try to keep your loaded trailer weight below 7000 pounds.
