Hello,
I'm looking for what I need from a toyota truck to be able to pull at most 17,000 gvwr 5th wheeler. I'm trying to stick with toyota all the way but not sure I'll be able to. Any help will be appreciated.
It depends where do you live. Avaliable models differ from region to region.
Currently live in Virginia
Depending on the manufacturer, the best gas-powered truck can do is 11,000 +/- . You'll have to go with a HD diesel truck to tow that much.
Here's what KBB says - I'm afraid you're going to want to get a heavy duty pickup (and with a diesel if you want to get any kind of fuel mileage).

The last gen tundra (5.7L V8) was over built, maybe to compensate for not having a 3/4 ton in the lineup. So I would feel comfortable all the way to the published rating.
But, no, a tundra (any generation) will not be safe pulling 17k.
If an unmodified Toyota Tundra can tow a space shuttle that weight almost 300,000 pounds, surely it can tow 17,000 pounds.

In all seriousness, look at the tow rating for any truck, whether it is a Toyota or a diesel. It will say how much it can tow. I don’t think a Tundra is rated for 17,000, but that will take some digging.
