I have a 2010 Rav4 2.5L with 196,000 miles. It has the 2AR-FE engine. Besides regular maintenance, and religiously changing my oil and fluids, what can I do to maximize its life?
There’s no secret. Drive gently. Don’t tow. And don’t wreck it ‘cuz insurance will try to make you total it.
I have a 1999 Accord with 279K+ and a 2004 Prius with 300K+. I basically did the maintenance schedule on both. And didn’t drive like a maniac.
I also fixed what needed to be fixed, and nothing was major.
Keep up with the maintenance, and your car is projected to be good for sometime.
There's a good video on that car with the 2AR-FE engine that came out by The Car Care Nut guy. I'm in a similar boat. I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Mine is I'm going to 3 months or 3,000 on oil changes with ILSAC-certified full synthetic oil and hope for the best. If it turns into an oil burner like the one in the video did, I'm not fixing it.
