I have a 1998 T100 with 98k mi, and both of the plastic (i believe it ABS) are coming apart causing the doors to remain ajar. I can't help but notice the similarities with later Toyota "truck" models and wonder about the compatibility of the latch mechanism (or even similar latchs on NISSAN or other Japanese trucks)? Help me fix this, please. I even thought about disassembly and cannibalizing other latches to fix this (I'm very mechanically inclind and creative).

Well realize those stupid plastic inserts in the latch can be replaced. Go to Toyota and buy them. You just snap them in. You don't have to buy the whole latch
