Hey Scotty I drive a 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road automatic with roughly 13K miles on it. I'm currently running 31s on it but I've recently gotten it lifted and tuned (because of the annoying eco-based transmission) which allows me to fit 34s. As I continue modifying the truck, what are a few things you recommend keeping in mind to make sure reliability remains unaffected?
of course reliability will be affected. You are taking the truck outside of the conditions it was designed for.
That means you are putting your trust into the people who designed the modifications. Have they done their engineering? Testing? Did they take into account weaknesses and potential failures, or are they just pumping out parts to make money?
Are are your axles, shafts and bearings and all the other driveline , suspension and steering components rated for the kind of stuff you'll be doing? The huge stresses from those massive tires?
I know a guy who builds trucks for the mining industry. All that stuff has to be upgraded. They cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sometimes, they still come back broken.
