Hello
I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra 5.7L with 160,000 miles auto that overheated. I check the radiator cap and found that the valve in the middle was missing. My question is what happens to that piece inside the radiator?
If it is too big to fit through the tubes, it will probably float around in the top tank of the radiator. If it can pass through one of the tubes, it will end up going to your water pump. You could try using a strong magnet and see if you can get it to the filler neck.
I am thinking that your truck overheated because the radiator cap wasn't holding pressure...
Did you loose coolant?
Oldandy, Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that for sure. Yes that's exactly what happened.
Yaser, Yes I did about a gallons worth. I bought a new radiator cap and filled her up. So far so good!
