TPM Showing Low Pressure, But No Apparent Leaks

Asking for a friend.

2015 Honda CR-V. The TPM is showing low pressure, but there are no apparent leaks.

Took it to Costco where he bought the tires, and they said it may be a rim.  Went to get the rim replaced at the dealer, and it is still showing the flat tire icon on the dash.

Went back to dealer several times, and they still can't pinpoint the problem, they say everything is okay.  But the TPM is still showing low pressure, after he leaves the dealer.

What can he do to resolve this issue?

The tires check out ok with a manual gauge? Also, did you use a scan tool (the cheapo ones won’t give you this information) to see what the Body Control Module (BCM) sees for tire pressure at all 4 corners? How does that match up with your gauge?  (BCM is usually where the TPMS data is located that a good scan tool can access).

My 2009 GM truck shows the Low Pressure message (my TPMS is basic - it does not display the actual pressure in the 4 tires on my gauge cluster - need to use my fancy scan tool to get that info) but I troubleshot and everything up to and including the BCM is fine so I live with it.  I also learned that my truck will display that TPMS light if the difference in psi between any of the tires is more than 0.5 psi (and I can’t change that parameter) - which is impossible to maintain at all times under all conditions.

Is the tire really low on air or flat? Did anyone check with a ol' fashion tire pressure gauge?  TPMS sensor is probably bad, the batteries in them do run down. It's a 6 yr old vehicle.

I’m getting more information as it comes. It turns out it went down to 20psi. Measured with the old fashion tool.

But they couldn’t find a puncture or a leak.

Then I think it's time to put the offending wheel/tire in the a dunk tank. Pump it up to normal pressure, and then you submerge it in water , even a small leak should show bubbles where it's leaking from.

Thx!
