Had the tire light on for awhile and finally bought new tpms. Had them installed on my Ford Ranger when I got new tires and after about 30 miles the light came back on. Thoughts?
Full size spare? If so, did you have the sensor replaced on it? Also, even though it seems a no brainier, are the new tires all correctly inflated, as well as the spare?
@oldandy
Good point. What's the low-pressure threshold of the new sensors. Are the tires inflated above threshold.
I don't know the thresholds but either the installers or the internet should have that answer. Make sure each tire is inflated to the pressure on your door plate, including the spare if it is full size. See if the light then goes off. Best of luck.
All those TPMS units just have batteries inside, and they eventually wear out. They are located inside the tire, and in order to fix it you'd have to take the tire off the wheel, put a new battery in it, put the tire back on, re-balance it, then put it back on the car. You might as well do all 4 while you're at it, and that can get really expensive, cause not all shops are going to have a tire machine.
So if you don't mind, as long as you monitor the tire pressure, and maintain it as needed, you can ignore the light and keep driving it.
