Hello, I currently own a 2012 Highlander with 87000 miles which has lived most of its life in a region where salt is applied to roads in winter. It's not rotting, but it does have some rusty parts compared to the relatively immaculate vehicles in the salt-free pacific Pacific Northwest where I just moved. I've seen a few RX350's here that are 2-5 years older (2007-2010) with similar mileage than my Highlander and I'm wondering if it would be worth selling the Highlander to get an older RX350 which will presumably have less salt wear and tear on body and parts. I also don't mind having a smaller SUV, as I don't require the extra space the Highlander offers. Just like Scotty, I'm cheap and I like to buy a reliable used car to shower in TLC until it's served for many years. Before spending more money on the Highlander's maintenance, I'm wondering it would be a wise move to sell it if I find the right RX350 of similar mileage but slightly older.
Thanks!
If the rust isn't serious, then sell it. With this current market and with less than 100k miles, you can get some good money for that car.
The rx350s have really surged in vlaue these days and don't have as much room as the highlanders. I suggest you don't trade it in becuase you won't get much and instead sell it and get the money because suv's go for a lot on today's market. The rx350 has a 5 speed auto transmission that can be kind of hesitant during acceleration, but still an excellent luxury suv to purchase!
