Hi all!
Just bought a Venza 2010 with 154k miles on it. Shifts very good and runs great, no tranny or engine codes. I’m the 3rd owner and the carfax/vincheck reports showed no signs of tranny fluid changes. Should I change it at this point? No dipstick so I dont know the condition of the fluid, but tranny is not leaking, its bone dry. Or should I just leave it alone at this point?
With no dipstick you can still check the condition of the fluid but it involves putting the car up on stands, getting underneath, and taking out the fill plug to get a sample.
That's a tough call, you could go either way in my opinion. I guess it depends on how long you plan of keeping the car. Of course without drain and fill it will fail sooner like mentioned, but being a Toyota I would say you'd get away with it for at least 200K miles but probably more. If you think you can handle the job I'd give it a go and just save the old fluid in case it does go bonkers.
