My transmission dipstick is about 2-3mm over The full line, after about three dump and fills on my wife’s Toyota Corolla 08’—should I get back under to drizzle enough out to have it between the lines, though I wouldn’t be able to replace the crush washer this way?
Thank you !
That's a small amount but too little or too much fluid can hurt a transmission. It's not worth risking any damage. If you don't want to crawl under the car with another crush washer, you could fish a small plastic line down through the dipstick hole and with an attached syringe remove a little fluid. This will give you the basic concept although he's removing excess oil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMkvKr59hiE
After changing the fluid it's important to remember you need to cycle through the gears several times and then check the fluid level. Anytime you check the level, the engine needs to be hot.
Thanks.
So engine needs to be at temperature cycled through all gears several times ——
And in neutral, with engine running?
Thanks again
You're welcome. Use park, that's much safer. Engine running, yes.. You don't want it in gear, that would skew the reading.
2-3mm over The full line
there should be low and high notches for both the cold and hot range.
