Should I change my manual transmission fluid

Hi Scotty,

I just got an old Discovery 1 (Diesel), with 170,000 miles on it. It was given to me for free, as it needs a lot of work to make it run again properly.

I was about to change the transmission fluid but then I saw a video from Scotty saying that if it has never been changed with so many miles, one shouldn't better not change it. I don't have a clue on wether it has ever been done. Would you reccomend to do it anyways or shall I keep it as it is?

Yours is manual. There is no issue in change the fluid. Go a head and change it with the correct oil.

Check the FAQ in this forum on this topic.

Hi! I've checked the FAQ but I could'nt see something specific. In this case I don't have a clue on wether this has ever been done (and in this case I'd replace it) or it still has the original.

The video doesn't apply to you. It's for automatics only.
