Hi,
I have a 2003 Mercedes A140, with 75-80K miles and automatic transmission. I asked two garages to change the transmission fluid but both refused to do it as "the fluid doesn't need to be changed" in this car. I saw scotty reccomending to change the fluid even if the OEM claims that it'll last for the life of the transmission.
Is there any risk or complications for doing it in a Mercedes? Shall I insist and find a garage that will do it?
Thank you!
AC
Your is manual transmission and it is not as urgent as automatic but it is better to change it.
Sorry, I meant automatic transmission. Yet, seeing your answer I see that I should find a garage willing to do the change even if the manual suggests not to do so.
Thanks
Find someone who will do what YOU want. An 18 year old car that hasn't had it's ATF changed is ripe for problems. I would change (not flush) the fluid and filter.
