Scotty I love you’re Utube channel.
I have a 2017 Ford Transit 3500HD chassis under my RV. It has 58,800 miles on it. 99% are highway miles. We use it for travel not camping. It has a 3.7 liter v 6 and an automatic transmission.
I asked my local firs truck shop to replace the fluid and change the filter. They said it would be a 3 hour job just to remove the subframe and then split the tranny to drain the fluid and change the filter. They want to flush the fluid in the tranny. Should I let them?
thank you Chuck
By "flush" do they mean a power flush with an external pump, or a fluid exchange using the transmission's own internal pump? The former is inviting trouble, the latter is not a problem.
I’m not sure. They said this tranny does not have a pump in it, it works just by the mechanics of the unit. They said they would flush using the transmission lines to and from the unit. I can ask that specific question. Thank you very much.
I had a 67 Rambler Rebel Convertible and I loved it. Wish my Father did make me get rid of it. I had Aluminum rims with 60’s in the back 70’s up front air suspension it was so cool. I am a AMC fan! If I could have found it I would have bought it back.
They're pretty rare, only about 1500 Rebel convertibles were made for 1967, then about 1200 for 1968. We have a few AMC cars here.
Thanks to all. I really appreciate the advice.
Should I let them?
No. And stay away from these external flush machines. Instead opt for a fluid replacement. A Transit's transmission fluid can be changed without "power flushing". Chuck's right, take it somewhere else.

Automatic transmissions work with hydraulic pressure and will have at least one pump to develop that pressure. Some have both a front and a back pump. Take that thing to a mechanic who has some idea of how automatic transmissions work.
