Hi,
I just recently bought a 2012 Honda Civic EX with 104k miles. It seemed like a great car with only 1 owner, low miles, and no accident history. While I thought I did my due diligence, I failed to notice the previous owner flushed the transmission 4 years ago at 73k miles.
Since realizing this, I've noticed there's a minor kickback when the engine shifts from first gear to second gear, and sometimes a subtle kickback when shifting down while decelerating.
Would it be wise to drain my transmission fluid? Or should I leave it alone? If so, how many quarts should I expect to buy?
Thank you.
If the fluid was replaced 30k miles ago then there's no need to replace it again for another 30k. See the FAQ for more info.
Sorry - *Wise to drain and replace the existing transmission fluid? Its a 5 speed automatic transmission.
So far, everything else about the car is great! It drives really smoothly, engine works well with easily getting 40mpg on the highway, interior is in great condition. Just wondering the best course to take care of this transmission.
