Transmission Oil Leak

I have a 2015 Honda Civic LX. Just recently I been having to add more transmission fluid, as the transmission oil keep splashing out on the top part of the transmission. I noticed the transmission cap plug keeps popping out. I replaced the transmission cap plug with a new one and cleaned the transmission vent cap as well, in case it was plugged up with junk inside. After doing all of that, I still keep finding transmission fluid on the top part of the transmission where the fill cap plug and vent cap is located, the only difference is, the cap plug is not popping out anymore since I replaced it. Do you have any idea how this transmission oil keeps coming out from the top of the transmission? Is pressure building up some where's and coming out some where's else? Thanks for any help!

maybe you're overfilling it.

@imperator I thought about that, but will over filling cause the transmission to jerk when taking off to go? I seems to stop jerking when I add transmussion fluid back in the transmission!

yes. if you overfill you block the vent which will cause problems. There will be pressure where there shouldn't be. The transmission fluid circuit needs to "breath". Adjust is to the correct level according to manufacturer specified procedure.

It sounds like your vent plug was plugged up before you cleaned it. Double-check your transmission fluid level using the procedure recommended by the manufacturer.

You did not mention mileage. Has the transmission been serviced regularly over the last decade?

@chucktobias I totally forgot to mention the mileage, it has over 130,000 miles on it. We done regular motor oil changes, but never have changed out the transmission oil that I know of. My wife bought this car used from a dealership, so maybe the dealership did. My wife bought this car in 2019.
