Transmission Service

Topic starter

Scotty - I've seen your videos on transmission service.  I have a 2000 Ford Taurus that we inherited from my in-laws with the 3.0l v-6 engine.  It's 21 years old, but only just recently rolled 70,000 miles.  We know it's time to have the transmission serviced, but would it be better to reuse the old transmission fluid due to it's age and just replace the filter, or would it be ok to replace the fluid with new?  Thanks!

It would be a good idea to do a drain-and-fill - DO NOT flush it. Measure how much fluid comes out and put the same amount of brand new fluid back in. Use OEM Ford transmission fluid.
