Hello Scotty! I have a daily driver 1987 Toyota Corrola with a 4age engine, 679,442 miles. Two weeks ago I replaced the head gasket and timing belt. Upon start up, my check engine light came on with code #6, no NE, G signal. The car runs lke a top, I cruse around 80 miles an hour just like everyone else, why be different. I cannot turn off the check engine light! I have replaced the wires from the distributor N and G pickups. I plan today, to increase the distributor air gaps from, 008 to .010, the gap which is now .008. The igniter is working, the tack is working and the IGf ECM terminal has between .68 and 1 volt indicated, which believe turns off the check engine light when everything is good. Today, I will be going over to the junk yard to strip out a shielded wire harnes for the G+/G- circuit to replace my totally cooked harnes. I have a year and a half before my next smog, Can you help me save my wonderful Toyota FX16? What em I missing?
Resepectfully Yours

Go back over your work to confirm everything is connected and tight and in the correct place. I usually screw up at least one thing.
Hello Doc, I know you are right This should be an easy engine code to turn off. I am planing to replace the distributor wires for the Ne and G signals. I am in a rain situation that may clear up around three P.M. today and so, I will head over to the junkyard for a shielded
two wire harness, to replace the old harness. That should secure the distributor to ECM signal circuit for the Ne/ G+/- signal which the repair manual states is missing.
Thank you for the reply.
