Hello,

I’m about to go check out this 2010 accord with 117k miles on it and the Private seller wanted 7k for it and I thought that’s too expensive so I talked him down to 5.9k. The car is a 1 owner 117k miles with a clean title and no accidents in its history. What do you think ? Any tips when checking the car out tmr and am I getting a good deal or should I have tried to bring the car price down

That's actually a really decent price. If you can't manage to get a mechanic to look it over then look at the obvious. Tire Wear, does it seem even or abnormal, Look at the bolts on top fenders, are they painted, Show signs of being removed? Look at gaps between doors and fenders , hood, trunk etc... are they uniform on both sides? Is there burnt oil on dipstick or under oil fill cap? Is trans fluid clear? Brake fluid look ok and clear. Make sure the check engine and air bag light turn on before you start it then go out. Ask for maintenance records. Does it shift ok? Test drive it like you stole it. Put it through the paces. Look underneath for rust, excessive white crust on the engine block, mold under the seats, make sure it wasn't a flood car.

Thank you! That was a great list I’ll make sure I do all that.

Have a mechanic do a full inspection and see if its in good mechanic shape. If it checks out, then those are good cars.

In my area, you can't even find clean title Accords, and that price is what Salvage title samples go for. 7 grand is a bit too much, but 5-6 grand is a good price for it.
