Hi. We would like to get a used Honda Pilot. We originally thought about 2016 or 2017, as they are in our price range. However, I have read some concerning issues regarding fuel injectors with those years? Did this problem get resolved in 2018? Overall, is the 2018 a good year for the Pilots? What years do you feel like are the best? Thanks!
Most common failure on the pilots is transmissions. Honda can make a motor very well. Making a transmission that will hold up to under power of their V6 engines has been a long time problem. If you don’t plan on ever towing anything and baby the vehicle it will last you fine as long as you adhere to the maintenance schedule. Especially on transmission fluid. If you ever plan on towing then you should really look at SUV’s with Body on Frame construction like a Toyota 4Runner. The pilots are Unibody construction.

This may serve as a starting point, and aligns with things I've read elsewhere about good and bad years. Certainly, anything can happen to any vehicle from any year; there are no guarantees,. We are always just playing the odds.
It looks like 17 and 18 were good years for third generation Pilots.
