Hi. I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT (Toyota 2AZ FE engine) with 195k miles. I had the engine rebuilt (pistons replaced due to oil consumption) and the catalytic converter replaced about six months ago. Ever since, the engine has had a fast, rather intense vibration from 700 to 1100 RPM (worst at about 950-fairly loud like a subwoofer, the steering wheel/rear view mirror visibly shaking.) Strangely, being in gear vs neutral or park does not affect the vibration at all-it's just as strong hot or cold, in or out of gear. All the mounts have been replaced with OEM parts. I've also changed the spark plugs, ran a few bottle of fuel cleaner, but it's not any better. I'm guessing it has something to do with the engine or the exhaust since it was smooth as glass and quieter before the rebuild. Any guesses or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jonas in KY
They did not rebuild the engine correctly. Take the car back to the mechanic shop and have them do the job correctly or find another shop and have the mechanic pay the bill.
Well, that's tough because my brother in law did it for free. I'd like to figure out exactly what's wrong so I can either fix it or get rid of the car.
Is vabration the same as vibration but with a Southern drawl? 😆
