I'm looking for a reliable, reasonable small van or RV that can be livable for a month at a time. Rather not look like a Class C RV. I'm considering a 2000 Volkwagon Eurovan. It is a mini RV van with all the needs from stove, refrigerator, bath etc I'd like It's a 2.8 liter - 6 cylinder - 140 HP. It has 170,000 miles. Any issues to be aware with this mileage?
And does anyone have any experience with those aftermarket Vehicle protection plans we all hear about. "Replace/repair your vehicle engine/trans etc . Are they at all honest and worthwhile. Wondering if Scotty or others have dealt with these plans.
Can't tell you about the car, I hear they are better quality then the ones here in the US? So not too sure what to make of that.
For the aftermarket warrenty's the only thing I can say is do your extensive research. Get as many options and opinions as possible, be it from forms or otherwise. A lot of em are just out for a scam. I have had several and they will work with you but don't expect like a flat rate off the bat. It's like more or less insurance as the more you repair/replace the higher the cost they will want to charge during the next cycle. Gotta fight to keep cost down and what not. And you want to work it out at the beginning rather than after. Though the initial plan is cheap enough of course. The only trust is if you read the entire form and see there are no hidden BS. I have one currently on my 2019 Camry since I got it second hand and non-certified. Came with the car so no worries for me there. Upon reading the fine print, the aftermarket warrenty was actually in talks with for a Toyota partnership. Not to sure how true that was.
In Europe the VW Transporters are known for lasting a long time 400-500k km. In the US, I still see them on criagslist with that many miles but they are too expensive to maintain and repair at that age because its a VW.
