2012 VW Passat 3.6 v6. Just under 152k miles. I know I need new 02 sensors but this morning my car wouldn’t do anything. Couldn’t even use my remote to electronically unlock the doors. I u plugged the battery for 10-15 minutes. Nothing. My dad thinks it’s a faulty can shaft sensor. No lights came on. No sound from car trying to start. Advice?
You can confirm this by using a multimeter, with the selector set to volts DC. It should be 12.7 volts. You also mentioned the battery was changed recently. Double check that a terminal cable didn't work itself loose.

See the FAQs. Maybe you left a door partially closed and the battery died. A car would receive power when you switch the key, if it has one, to run. I have a pushbutton start on my Mustang and it requires you to step on the brake to actually start the car. You can also use the pushbutton to turn the car on without your foot on the brake. That's what trips the "idiot" lights. A car will turn on and attempt to crank, regardless of the camshaft position sensor. It just wouldn't start.
Yes it’s a push button start. All doors were closed and locked. I had to manually unlock by removing the driver door thumb sensor cover.
Recently switched out batteries in october|November of 2023. So you think it’s a dead battery? Not a sensor or alternator?
The alternator only recharges the battery when the engine's running, so it can't be that. Most likely it's a dead battery.
