VW DQ200 DSG oil & mechatronic fluid

I have a 2016 VW Jetta MK6.5 with the 1.4 EA211 single turbocharged engine. It has about 38k miles to it. No issues so far, everything is smooth. Loving the car btw.

Just want to get more clarification for the DSG oil & mechatronic fluid. The VW dealer said I don't have to replace the oil & fluid. Some VW independent workshop says I have to replace them every 40k miles, some every 60k miles, while some say don't have to replace them.

I've heard accounts from owners of the same vehicle say they have not replaced the oil & fluid and have reached 60k miles with no issue.

So what's the deal here? Do I have to replace them once in a while even though I don't have issues with it all? Are the independent workshops trying to make an extra buck here or what?

Scotty has already dispelled the myth about lifetime fluids for automatic transmission.

The VAG DSG transmissions are notorious for having trouble as they age, so you need to take the best care of them, to prolong their life.

Hello,

I would change the oil every 3 years depending on the driving conditions

I include two links for your information

All the Best.

@dvkala
I drive it conservatively. The only time I stressed the vehicle somewhat is when overtaking which is something I rarely do only if the vehicle in front is super slow, truck, bus, etc. Once I'm in front, I drive it normally. In slow-moving traffic like waiting in line for a drive-through or traffic jam, I usually put it on manual. So with this kind of driving style, what would you recommend? Still change it even though I don't have any issues at all?

I would say yes and give this advice back to the dealership.

Lifetime fluids means 10 years or 100,000km ...

Not life driving the car.

Read the fine print on what life time means as it approach it.

@klob
I see. So provided I don't have any issues with the DSG at all, I should just wait until 2026 or 60000 miles to replace them?

I would say this.. read the owner manual for this.
But I would change it half way and make sure it a good mechanic those garage . Those gear box can be prone to particle problems in an un clean workshop.
Gearbox cost 10,000 dollar gearbox oils cost 50 bucks and labor
