Vw golf limp mode

Hey I have a 2004 vw golf with 136k miles which has gone into limp home mode and recently overheated when stuck in traffic. A garage has looked over it and came back with a list of faults but no permanent solutions except suggest changing parts and hoping for the best was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar issue.

List of faults

Gearbox fault solenoid 7 they are unable to gain access to confirm if solenoid or wiring fault

Large vaccum Leak from egr hose and small Leak from brake vaccum hose

Fuel trims maxed out at 35% and o2 indicated lean running blocking egr hose improved readings but fuel trims remained high

Maf over reading by 25% at idle but responded in a linear fashion with rpm increase

Downstream o2 flat at 65mv

Code set in sensor 1 o2  heater circuit confirmed resistance at 3.5ohms and pwm current supplied

Alternator connection had previously melted although  they have  fixed this

Radiator fans not working relay is clicking

They have also fitted a new battery

And recently replaced the catalytic converter before the limp home started

Thanks

they are pretty normal issues to have. There is no "permanent solution" to wear and tear. It's an almost 20yo vehicle. You just have to replace what wears out.

Start with replacing the hoses. That will make most of the problems go away. But fix the fans first so your engine doesn't overheat.

Hey thanks for replying do you think these issues could be causing the solenoid fault as dont fancy spending loads of money fixing the rest if the transmission is gone

that generation of Golf had crap transmissions . DCT I believe. They're just weak.
It would not be related to any of the other problems.

Okay thanks for your help I'll replace the other parts and hope it's not gearbox related
